Call for Application 

MASTER OF SOCIAL SCIENCES (ISLAMIC DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT) MIXED MODE 2015 Intake 

The Master of Social Sciences (Islamic Development Management) Mixed Mode programme is offered by the School of Social Sciences, and managed by the Centre for Islamic Development Management Studies (ISDEV), Universiti Sains Malaysia. The aim of the programme is to train and prepare student to manage development the Islamic way. It is the first academic programme that integrates the Islamic-based fields of development and management in a holistic way.

Students of this programme may specialize in one of the following specializations:

1.      Islamic-Based Development
2.      Management of Islamic Assets Development
3.     Management of Islamic Development Institutions
4.       Islamic Political Economy


PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES

Programme is trans-disciplinary in nature and as such can be pursued by candidates from various fields of study, whether from the art based disciplines such as management, development, economics, political science, sociology, anthropology, communication, history, geography, literature and others, and from the science-based disciplines or from the field of Islamic studies itself.

ACADEMIC GRADE REQUIREMENT



Qualification : Bachelor degree
A) CGPA of at least 2.75
  1. Subject to additional requirement(s) by the School;
OR,
B) CGPA of 2.5 - 2.74
  1. Research experience – 1 year; or,
  2. Professional experience in related field- 1 year; or,
  3. Two (2) academic publications (journals, not proceeding(s) in related field; or,
  4. Grade B for major/ elective courses; or,
  5. Grade B+ for final year project;
OR,

C) CGPA of 2.00 - 2.49

      1. Research experience - 5 years or professional
          experience in related field - 5 years,
     
 and;

       2. Two (2) academic publications (journal, not
           proceeding(s) in related field; or,
       3. Grade B for major / elective courses; or,
       4. Grade A- for final year project.


DURATION OF THE PROGRAM

The Master of Islamic Development Management programme is offered on a full time basis. The minimum duration of study for the programme is 3 semester (18 months) and the maximum is 6 semester (36 months).

GRADUATION REQUIREMENT

To graduate, each candidates must accumulate fourty (40) credit hours which comprise four (4) compulsory courses consisting of twelve (12) credit hours, and a Dissertation which carries twenty (28) credit hours. This means that 30% of the 40 credit hours come from the 4 compulsory courses while the other 70% come from Dissertation writing of 25,000 maximum words.
